Igor Klymenko: Our strong desire is to defend the state

This was emphasized by the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine today, February 6, during a meeting with the Czech delegation headed by the Director General of the European Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Yaroslav Kurfürst.

Igor Klymenko thanked for the strong and consistent support from the Government and the people of the Czech Republic in a difficult time for Ukraine. He expressed special gratitude to the Acting Minister for providing shelter to Ukrainians who, in connection with the Russian invasion, were forced to leave their homes and the country.

Representatives of the Czech delegation were told in detail about the process of formation of assault brigades “Guard of Offensive” started in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, which are to strengthen the State Defense Forces in order to liberate the occupied territories of Ukraine. These are 8 assault brigades of the National Guard, the National Police and the State Border Guard Service, which should be in service on April 1.

“Our determination is to defend the state. As of today, units of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine make up about a quarter of the national defense forces. It was decided to create additional brigades, the process of formation of which has already begun. After the start of the information campaign, we have already received more than 3 thousand requests regarding the conditions of recruitment, service, financial support. I emphasize that these brigades are formed exclusively from volunteers — soldiers and policemen with combat experience.”

Igor Klymenko separately focused on the needs of providing the newly formed brigades. It was also about the challenges faced by the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the context of the scale of work on humanitarian demining of territories, protection of critical infrastructure of the state, etc.

The head of the Czech delegation, Jaroslav Kurfürst, assured of the Czech Republic's intention to develop bilateral cooperation, continuing to help Ukrainians and participating in the further reconstruction of our country.
