The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, who participated in the live broadcast of the All-Ukrainian Telemarathon, told how the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working to restore safe space in the de-occupied territories after the victory. Igor Klymenko said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working together with other ministries on the recovery program, which provides for a number of measures:

“To date, we have three main clusters that will determine the safety of our citizens. We are referring to areas that were not under occupation - the so-called rear, where there is a lot of population that has moved from the south and east of our country. There are also regions that have been under enemy occupation for a long time and where operational and humanitarian demining, stabilization measures and enhanced work of law enforcement structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are now taking place. And of course those territories that have been under occupation for 9 years are part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, where people have been living for a long time in an information vacuum about what is happening on the territory of our state, where people and children are poisoned by propaganda and schools teach the history of “Great Russia”, and not their native crass Ju. That is, we say that all citizens in all territories of our state should feel peace and security, and we must ensure this. Therefore, together with other ministries, we are proposing a program that will ensure the restoration of a sense of security for every citizen.”

Separately, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs focused on issues of border security and demining of de-occupied territories:

“30% of the territory must be depopulated now, which is what we are doing. But we are talking about humanitarian demining, that is, about huge work on clearing agricultural land, residential buildings, administrative buildings and so on. For example, there is a huge territory of our state, in particular Chernihiv, Sumy and Nikolaev regions, where active hostilities do not take place, but they are constantly shelled for 15-20 km every day. However, now winter is over and demining will go at an even greater pace.”

Igor Klymenko also noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working on the establishment of Ukrainian power in the de-occupied territories, and the state borders should be inaccessible to the enemy:

“We will do everything to ensure that our borders are as secure as possible. The algorithm of work in the de-occupied territories is in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. We are working closely with the Department of Defense and other ministries because it will be complex hard work for many years to come.”
