This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in an interview with the Rada TV channel.

According to Igor Klymenko, at present, when there is a war in the country, it is important to be able to unite military, police, rescuers and people in shoulder straps:

“Today, the head of the department should be on the front line, with the fighters. He must understand what each unit is doing, his problems and each of his subordinates.”

Igor Klymenko stressed that at present the goal of every government official is to be an expert in their field and not to let citizens down in this difficult time. Ministers must understand every citizen and the problems of those who have been forced to emigrate.

“We will need to predict daily the situation that will develop in the country. We need to understand the challenges we face. Of course, the largest number of crimes is related precisely to fraud, and I think this figure will be sustainable. These are not only citizens of Ukraine, they are also fraudsters working from foreign countries and primarily from the Russian Federation,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Igor Klymenko said that the authorities are aware of all the challenges, including those that will await the post-war Ukraine:

“Of course, we need police on patrol now. We will need border guards to restore the border, who must strengthen control after the liberation of the temporarily occupied territories. And of course the national guards, who together with the police will ensure peace on the streets of our settlements in the de-occupied territories.”

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko stressed that now the law enforcement agencies need even more people in order to return the country to a peaceful life. According to him, people going out on the street should feel safe, and know that the state will protect them.

Separately, the Head of the Department spoke about the launch of the Unified Register of Weapons, which is scheduled for June 23, 2023. Igor Klymenko stated that the main goal of this initiative is that all weapons that are currently in the hands of citizens are in the register, and this in turn will help the law enforcement system to control its distribution.

“If we do not think through and approve a clear mechanism for our citizens, then they will not trust the state and we will not do anything. And for citizens to believe, we must minimize crime, we must prescribe clear rules for the possession of such weapons,” the head of the department summed up.

Igor Klymenko noted that returning the feeling of security after the war to our citizens is the first thing that the state and the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs should do. For this purpose, weapons must be accounted for, controlled and the rules for carrying or using them must be clearly spelled out.
