What functions does the Ministry of Internal Affairs have and how it improves the work of the Register of Missing Persons in Special Circumstances
The Commissioner for Missing Persons under special circumstances became an official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The unit performs, in particular, the following functions:
● coordination of the search for persons;
● interaction with state authorities, public associations to obtain information that may contribute to the search for persons; ● processing of information contained in the Unified Register of Missing Persons under special circumstances;
● Communication with relatives of missing persons persons and providing them with information on the status of the search and its results;
● initiating the formation of expert and working groups, commissions, involvement of specialists,
number of foreigners.
Functions regarding missing persons under special circumstances are transferred from the Ministry of Reintegration to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
The transfer of functions will improve the interaction and exchange of information with the bodies of the National Police of Ukraine, the expert service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, other bodies authorized to search and record information about missing persons and provide constant communication with relatives of missing persons under special circumstances.
