A new school year starts soon. So the cyberpolice reminds of the basic rules of cyber hygiene and explains to parents how to protect schoolchildren on the Internet.

1. It is necessary to set the appropriate settings to protect the gadget that the child uses. It should be ensured that the student can independently connect and open the necessary web resources. And most importantly - without having access to potentially dangerous resources. If necessary, parents should install antivirus software and configure it to update regularly.

2. If necessary, you should create an account to study on a specific platform with your child. Do not use already created adult accounts for this. Be sure to set up two-factor authentication wherever possible.

3. Teaching children to use reliable, complex passwords that are different for each resource and not to tell them to anyone is fundamental.

4. It is necessary to agree with the child that during the studies she will use only programs, messengers and websites with educational materials specified by the teacher. For convenience, you can create the appropriate bookmarks in the browser.

5. Tell the child about the danger of infecting the gadget with a computer virus in case of installing unknown programs and opening suspicious links, attachments to letters and files, even if they are sent from the accounts of familiar people. If necessary, check which sites the child has visited and what software the child has installed on his computer or smartphone.

6. It is necessary to teach the child to keep personal data secret. After all, the distribution on the Internet of personal information, private photos, phone numbers, residential addresses, bank card details, images of documents creates the risk of being affected by the actions of attackers. Remember - it is very difficult or almost impossible to delete data that has got on the Internet.

7. Explain to your child that new acquaintances on the Internet should be treated with caution and skepticism. Emphasize - attackers in the network can pretend to be friendly peers and rub off on trust, pursuing their own interests;

8. Try to create a culture of ethical online communication in your child. Aggression and bullying are strictly prohibited.

9. In priority - trusting relationships. The child should know that in any case he can count on the help of parents or teachers.

10. Discuss with your child a plan of action in case of unusual situations (lack of Internet, downloading a file with a virus, receiving a message from a stranger, etc.).
