How the divers sappers of the State Emergency Service are preparing for the opening of the swimming season in the Nikolaev area
Currently, Nikolaev divers sappers carry out work: they survey and clean water bodies in places provided for swimming. Special modern equipment for surveying reservoirs for the presence of explosive objects and their debris facilitates the work of specialists of the State Emergency Service, namely the autonomous hydrographic apparatus SONOBOT and the underwater drone FIFISH.
SONOBOT makes it possible not only to detect a suspicious find at the bottom of the river, but also, with the help of an echograph and according to characteristic features, to determine approximately what kind of object it is. And the underwater drone in turn, in addition to giving a clear picture during the water survey (and this allows the drone operator from the shore to follow the survey process and immediately identify the detected ammunition), also with the help of a special manipulator to raise small explosive objects to the surface.
The SNS notes that this technique is useful and it speeds up the return of safety to our inland reservoirs. However, it is emphasized that during the survey of reservoirs, sapper divers have a number of limitations, and some factors prevent the work to be carried out as intended for all 100 percent.
