Border guards do not imagine their service without four-legged friends, because service dogs have become indispensable helpers during the protection of state borders.

Travelers usually meet fellow border guards at checkpoints, but tails also help patrol the border, chase and detain violators.

Belgian Shepherd Chuck guards the state border in the picturesque Carpathians. For the four-legged mountain terrain is not an obstacle and thanks to its keen sense of smell and fast paws, it does its job well. Together with dog specialist Vitaliy Chak, he has been patrolling the Ukrainian-Polish border for almost three years.

“He is constantly ahead, leading, searching and chasing. Chuck is very intelligent, hardworking and friendly, but not towards violators. To guard the border with such a partner is reliable and effective,” the border guard shares his impressions of his service dog.

So if you decide to get yourself a malinois, then be sure to get a devoted friend and helper.
