The 5th European Kyokushin Karate WKB Championship in the kumite and kata sections was held on 12-13 November in the Polish city of Dembica. The competition was attended by 673 participants from 17 European countries in more than 50 weight and age categories.

The guard Boris Bulyskeriya and seven other athletes who are part of the Zaporizhzhya division of the All-Ukrainian Association “Kyokushin BUDo Karate” under the leadership of sensei Dmitry Aikin took part in the competitions as part of the National Team of Ukraine.

Boris Bulyskeriya is the leading athlete of Ukraine, multiple Champion of Ukraine, two-time European Champion, European Cup winner, bronze medalist of the 2019 World Championship and coach.

Currently, he is also a soldier of the National Guard of Ukraine, which defends the independence of our State in the war with the Russian aggressor.

“We must pay tribute to the Ministry of Sports and the leadership of the National Guard of Ukraine for supporting and providing the necessary permits for the opportunity to undergo proper pre-competition training. In two weeks of preparation for the Championship, I managed not only to carry out psychological rehabilitation, but also to determine the mood for victory,” the athlete noted.

The guy set himself the highest goals, so many years of training and the desire to win determined his place, he became European Champion in the most prestigious absolute weight category over 90 kg.

“It would be wrong to think otherwise. What is the point of going to the European Championship and not believing that you can bring the trophy home? It was difficult, had to work hard and have a little luck. In such a difficult time, when there is a war, it was very pleasant to raise the weight of our country. Actually, I take this as another proof that we are a strong and invincible nation!” — said Boris.

Currently, the athlete has received a license to participate in the Kyokushin Karate World Championship, which will be held in November 2023 in Spain.

“If possible, I will prepare. We would like the war to end as soon as possible with our victory. As they say, you can not escape from the war, you only need to win it, and for this you need to become only stronger. When everyone understands this, then we will win, as quickly and efficiently as possible. I think the main thing to do is to drive the enemy out of Ukraine,” Boris said.
