Robbed under the guise of searches: in Kharkiv, law enforcement officers exposed a gang of pseudo-employees of the SBU
Armed attackers broke into the couple's home in early July and illegally seized more than $20,000 worth of gold jewelry.
The gang leader turned out to be not enough of this amount and he demanded from the victim another 5 thousand dollars allegedly for the “closure” of criminal proceedings against him. In case of non-payment of money, the attacker threatened physical violence against the loved ones of the spouse.
The attacker was detained by the employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the GUNP in the Kharkiv region together with the SBU with the involvement of the special purpose police regiment immediately after receiving the funds.
Investigators found that the perpetrator was a 33-year-old Kharkiv resident, who had previously been repeatedly convicted of committing serious crimes.
During the authorized search, the man was stripped of work clothes with insignia of the SBU, a TT combat pistol with ammunition.
The attacker is detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 189 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to 12 years imprisonment with confiscation of property.
At present, his involvement in the commission of similar crimes in the territory of Kharkiv region and other regions of Ukraine is being checked, the persons of accomplices are being established. Measures are being taken to bring all gang members to account.
