Konstantin, a soldier of the 34th Kherson Regiment of the NGU, from the beginning of the full-scale invasion helped to restore the water networks of Nikolaev, and now together with his comrades he holds back the enemy in the Kherson direction. During the military service, the fighter was admitted to the hospital for the second time, where he is recovering from a traumatic injury received during combat.
Before the full-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the man worked in a private enterprise for the installation of water and heat networks. Together with colleagues, they connected various objects from an ordinary house to shops, restaurants, educational institutions to water and heat. When the invaders came to the city, his profession proved to be very popular. Many water and heating networks were damaged as a result of shelling by Russian troops.
“People needed our help. We could not leave them in trouble. Therefore, in the first year of a full-scale invasion, water and heating networks were repaired. Often they did it for free, because they wanted to help people who were in trouble,” Konstantin shares his memories.
When the Defense Forces liberated Kherson, the city of Nikolaev became calmer. In 2023, Konstantin decided to mobilize to the army. He got into the 34th Kherson regiment of the NGU. The unit was lucky to meet many of his acquaintances from Nikolaev, who also served there.
At that time the unit was located in Kherson. Almost immediately, the national guard took the position of grenade launcher. Then the KMB passed. Later he got to the UK, where he improved his knowledge of various grenade launcher systems. They also studied RPG-7, which was assigned to him by the state.
Truly a military Constantine felt himself only during the first combat exit.
“We were trained, instructed, but we still didn't know how to behave. But they showed themselves more than worthy. We had the task of taking up combat positions and holding the defense until the next shift. After some time, the enemy artillery began to work and we withdrew in an organized manner to safe positions and equipped them accordingly. We coped with the task,” says the national guard.
The greatest danger in positions the warrior calls enemy drones and artillery. According to him, one Ukrainian soldier on the enemy side can operate 2-3 grenade launchers. FPV drones can also operate several pieces per fighter. And it is very difficult to hide from them. But this is a basic skill to be acquired.
“It is very difficult and painful when a combat comrade dies. It turned out that he was personally present twice during the death of our guys. But we should thank the command that each wounded is evacuated first of all very quickly. It takes a lot of effort, but we cope. Because of this, the children are provided with timely assistance,” Konstantin shares.
The Guardsman firmly believes that everyone must make their contribution so that the country achieves victory in this war. Anyone who can hold a weapon must mobilize and defend the country. The warrior advises to go into the army and immediately begin to learn from older comrades all the features of modern warfare.
“The main advice for a recruit is that if you have time to learn something in the military, learn everything you can. During hostilities, it will not interfere. Yes, there is a lot of unnecessary information, but you need to learn everything and to the maximum. It is easier to throw away the unnecessary than to not be able to use the necessary because of ignorance,” advises the National Guard.
The husband misses his wife, who is now safe abroad. But a woman comes to him to spend a vacation together. Together they dream of a time when peace will come in the country. After the Victory, the guard plans to return to Nikolaev to develop in his civilian profession, in which he has been for more than 10 years.
