Rescuer hero: Vasily Chepovyk pulled a wounded doctor from under the rubble of the medical institution
Every year, Ukraine celebrates the winners of the All-Ukrainian action “Rescuer Hero of the Year”. It was introduced on the Day of the Rescuer, which is celebrated on September 17. Thanks to this action, ordinary citizens who showed courage and heroism during the rescue of people, property, the elimination of fires, accidents, emergencies, natural disasters receive honors.
The action takes place with the participation of the President of Ukraine. This year, the winners of the All-Ukrainian action “Rescuer Hero of the Year” were seven residents of different regions of Ukraine.
One of the winners Vasily Chepovyk is a private entrepreneur. In the spring of this year, he saved the doctor from under the rubble of the hospital.
On May 26, 2023, a Russian missile hit one of the medical facilities in the city of Dnipro. Then random passers-by rushed to the aid of the victims. Among them was Vasily Chepovyk.
The man saw two bloodied women in the courtyard and helped lead them away from the building. After that, he handed them over to doctors, and he himself began to look for people on the floors of the clinic.
“We found a man, but we couldn't pull it out. His legs were clamped by a fragment of the wall. I made a homemade lever, pulled it out and saved it,” Vasily said.
The injured man was transferred to the doctors. The survivor was psychiatrist Sergei Zinevich.
