Photo project “Incredible”: an exhibition about border guards was presented in Kyiv
Yesterday, August 28, the opening of the photo project “Incredible” took place in Kyiv. The photo project “Incredible” is the stories of women today, who create a new history of Ukraine. These are the stories of women who serve, volunteer, help, protect, support, bring our Victory closer.
The project of a separate checkpoint “Kyiv” was initiated. Before the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Kiev checkpoint, 48 percent of women border guards served. Now they continue to serve on a par with men. This project has a deep essence and understanding of the modern Ukrainian servicewoman.
“This exhibition has not only a cultural, but also a social dimension. The choice of profession should not depend on gender stereotypes. Women can be anyone and realize themselves in this role,” said UNFPA Deputy Representative in Ukraine and Senior Emergency Coordinator Mustafa Elkanzi.
The photo illustrations show 10 different border guards with different fates. These are women who, at the time of the full-scale invasion, served in the Kiev region in the capital's airports and carried out border control, and those who served in Mariupol and the moment of the full-scale invasion were found in this city. These are women who served in the ATO zone or the PLO since 2014. Women who had the opportunity to free themselves, but remained faithful to their oath, to their people continue to carry out the task of protecting and defending our country.
“I would like to wish everyone to appreciate them. To make them feel in this country that they are needed. I was asked to say something inspiring, this exhibition is inspiring,” summed up Rimma Zyubina, Ukrainian actress, TV presenter and community activist.
The exhibition will last until September 3 in the space “Free” at the address: ul. Antonovich 33-V, LLC “Maxim”, and then will travel around the cities of Ukraine.
