Metropolitan police officers exposed fraudsters who sought internally displaced persons. Their attackers searched Telegram channels and offered to receive allegedly financial assistance from foreign partners.

Representatives of one of the state banks informed law enforcement that unknown persons posing as employees of a financial institution commit fraudulent actions against customers. The scammers turned out to be residents of Zaporizhzhia - a 28-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman.

The accomplices created a fake phishing site similar to one of the well-known state-owned banks, and then, under the guise of employees of this bank, searched the telegram channels for internally displaced persons and offered to receive allegedly financial assistance from foreign partners.

By following the link and entering the details of their bank cards, citizens gave fraudsters access to the bank, and they in turn withdrew money from their accounts.

Thus, fraudsters misled 54 people and withdrew more than 400 thousand hryvnias from citizens' accounts. The offenders were informed of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - fraud committed under conditions of war or emergency, causing significant harm to the victim. The sanction of the article provides for 3 to 5 years in prison.

Meanwhile, Dnipro police sent to court the case of a fraudster who created a fake mobile version of the bank. The attacker is a 29-year-old resident of the city of Cherkassy.

By creating a phishing chatbot of the bank, the fraudster received all the necessary data of the victims' bank cards - card number, cvv code and information about the expiration date of the card.

Subsequently, the scammer entered this data into a real chatbot of the bank and gained access to the accounts of citizens - appropriating their funds. Thus, he “earned” 170 thousand hryvnias. Three Dnipro people suffered from illegal actions. The attacker is charged with Part 3 of Article 190 (fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces up to 5 years in prison. The case has already been sent to court.

The police once again appeal to citizens to be cautious.

If you have been called or sent an SMS message asking you to give your password or activate your card, under no circumstances tell this information to strangers. Call the official hotline of the bank to clarify the information.

In the event that you are still a victim of a fraudulent scheme, immediately contact the nearest police station or call the hotline 102.
