“Evacuation is five potential targets for the enemy,” the National Guardsman told about the rescue of the paratrooper
Military under the pseudonym Grandfather saved a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during fighting in the area of Kreminna, Luhansk region. Currently, the guard of the 5th Slobozhanska Brigade has returned from rotation and is in Kharkiv region.
According to the military, the evacuation of the wounded is one of the most difficult and at the same time one of the most dangerous stages of the battle. Grandfather participated in such events four times.
“Flint. Serebryansky forest. The National Guard fights on the “front”. The “radio” received information that a person was wounded at a nearby position. My brother and I, with the permission of the commander, moved to another position. There was shelling. We saw the wounded, the dungeon was all broken, it was visible that it had just arrived. We were taught a little by the instructors, so we did everything automatically. We had soft carriers, we lifted the wounded man in four and carried. The evacuation, of course, took a long time. The wounded brother was from 95 Brigade (95 OSHBR), and their evacuation point was more remote than ours. The shelling began with renewed force. We were spotted by an enemy copter, and the Russians transferred all the fire to the evacuees. When you carry a wounded person, you don't think about it, but we managed it,” recalls Grandad.
The invaders understand that more soldiers will come after the wounded fighter to pick him up. These are new targets for them.
“This is a classic: if one is wounded, four people come after him to pick him up. These are already five potential targets for the enemy. In the trench, he does not see you, and during the evacuation you have to move from above, in sight, even in the forest. If he manages to hook you, then twenty people will come after you to evacuate. That is why the Rashists are constantly hunting for evacuation,” the fighter says.
Grandfather himself was wounded during this campaign in the Balaklean direction. But despite his respectable age, he quickly recovered and returned to his brethren:
“Before that, they stood in the direction of Balaklia. Not the guard, but the front edge: shelling, aircraft, mortars — the whole set. It was there that I was wounded. There was an arrival of 120 mm mines just into the trench. I was nearby, got a shrapnel wound through my shoulder. There was another contusion. He stayed in a military hospital for ten days and that's it: he went back to his own.”
It should be noted that Grandpa is a motivated soldier. He is highly appreciated in the unit. He is hardworking, intelligent, observant, has a lively and at the same time persistent character, and also a great sense of humor.
Guards of the 5th Slobozhanska Brigade are a specific component of the Defence Forces of Ukraine. They are professionally destroying Russian invaders on the eastern borders and desperately fighting for the will and sovereignty of Ukrainian lands.
