Electronic driver's license can be exchanged at the centers of the State Enterprise “Document” abroad
Exchange of a Ukrainian driver's license for the same Ukrainian one is provided abroad in 11 centers of SE “Dokument”. This is possible thanks to the cooperation of the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Passport Service. Exchange service is available in Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain.
Anyone who has a national driver's license issued in Ukraine can get such a service. It is relevant when the license is renewed, if the driver changes his last name, name, etc., or when the plastic form is faded and the inscriptions are not read.
Since the beginning of 2023, 21,475 IDs have already been exchanged abroad. And for all the time that such a service exists outside Ukraine, 24,433 drivers have already taken the opportunity to exchange their Ukrainian driver's license for the same Ukrainian modern model.
Recall that the modern driver's license issued in Ukraine is a certificate of the European model and there is no requirement to exchange it for national licenses of other countries.
In addition, electronic driver's licenses are valid in Ukraine, and their use abroad is not regulated by international law.
Here it is worth explaining that from May 2023 in our country there are two options:
order the receipt of the usual driver's license — on a plastic form with its display in the Action and the Driver's Electronic Cabinet;
order an electronic driver's license — without using a plastic form, but only with a virtual form, which is displayed in the Actions and the Driver's Electronic Cabinet.
Accordingly, if a person traveled abroad by train, for example, and he has an electronic driver's license, which is not valid outside Ukraine, then in the centers of the State Enterprise “Document” you can exchange such a driver's license and get the usual plastic document that is valid abroad.
