Ecosystems continue to burn: over the past day, fires were recorded in Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk region
The negative trend of fires in natural ecosystems persists. This is because, contrary to the requirements of fire and environmental safety regulations, citizens massively burn garbage and dry vegetation residues in and around their own personal plots, and also admit negligence in the handling of fire during their stay in nature.
On October 21, 13 fire incidents in ecosystems were recorded on the territory of the Nikolaev area. Dry grass, garbage, shrubs and reeds were burned in all districts of the region, namely: Voskresenskaya, Veselinovskaya, Vesnyansk, Berezanskaya, Kazankivsk, Bashtanskaya, Konstantinovskaya, Blagodatne, Bratsk, Pervomaisk territorial communities and in the city. Nova Odessa, m. Pervomaisk and m. Nikolaev.
Prompt and professional response of firefighters is provided for all cases. In total, 15 units of equipment and about 50 rescuers were involved in the extinguishing. Also, firefighters of the local fire department “Pervomaiske”, volunteer fire teams of the village helped to extinguish the fires. Mykolaivske and s. Privileged. The total area of the fires was more than 12.4 hectares, and their cause was mostly careless handling of the fire.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, firefighters were involved in the elimination of fires in ecosystems 29 times over the past day. During the day, fire and rescue units of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region made 29 trips to eliminate fires in open areas.
Firefighters extinguished 24 fires of dry vegetation and 5 fires where debris was the focus. The total area of the ecosystems destroyed by fire was more than 31 hectares.
Rescuers stress to be extremely careful with open fire. Even a small unextinguished match can provoke a large-scale fire, which can lead to significant losses. Even if the fire does not reach human habitation and does not cause material damage, the fire causes damage to the ecosystem that will recover from it for years.
Take care of the nature that surrounds us and provides the necessary resources. In the event of a fire, call 101!
