The effectiveness of the implementation of “Mental tutor” in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine
The issue of citizens' mental health is a priority in times of war. It is not only about civilians, but also about servicemen and emergency services personnel.
In accordance with today's needs, the project “Mental tutor” is being implemented in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, which provides for the implementation of a wide range of tasks aimed at restoring and maintaining mental stability.
Thus, within the framework of the implementation of this initiative on March 13 and 15, 2024, the Department of Psychological Support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the support of the Fund “Partnership for the Sustainability of Ukraine” held a Discussion Panel “Effective implementation of “Mental tutor” in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine: from concept to implementation”.
The moderator of the discussion panel was Andriy Kostyuk, Head of the Department of Psychological Support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The main speakers at the event were experts from various fields, including defenders of Ukraine:
- Olga Gorbaneva — Expert of the Coordination Center of Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine;
- Oleksandr Tenn — founder of the HappyMind Foundation;
- Mykola Sioma — Director of the Ukrainian Legal Aid Foundation, PhD;
- Vladislav Goranin is a veteran psychologist on the basis of the “level-even” model on the basis of the “State Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” and the “Puscha-Vodytsia Medical Rehabilitation Center” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine”, graduate student of the Department of Psychology, head of the “Veteran's Cabinet” at the University of Grigory Skovoroda in Pereyaslav;
- Mykhailo Vernygora — Head of the Department of Military Social Work of the Department of Social Support of the Personnel Department of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine;
- Maxim Valevatyi — Senior Lieutenant of Police, Department of the Joint Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine “Fury”.
The discussion panel was attended by more than 80 specialists from the National Police, the National Guard, the State Emergency Service and the State Border Service of Ukraine, who were the first to receive training under the program “Alerts and Primary Interventions in Work with Loss and Grief” from Israel Trauma Coalition.
The topics of integration of the Mentor Mentor Project in accordance with the concept of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program, implementation of innovative digital solutions were discussed.
In particular, the speakers shared their experiences of escorting and adapting prisoners released from captivity and wounded of various degrees of severity.
During the discussion, the participants of the event gained valuable experience and incentive for their further professional development.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is dedicated to its Defenders and Defenders, and the Mental Tutor Project is another step in ensuring their psychological well-being.
