Fooled people for 20 years: Kiev police detained an elusive counterfeiter

The 50-year-old native of Russia has been “touring” Ukraine for years and deceiving citizens, thus earning a living.

The attacker on souvenir bills drew the necessary signs through stencils with fluorescent pens, which were illuminated when checked. Such a currency is difficult for an ordinary citizen to distinguish from the original.

In the massage studio of Sofiivska Borshchahivka village, the man purchased a certificate worth 3900 hryvnias and settled for 200 euros, of which he received the rest in hryvnias.

Employees of the criminal police of Kyiv region detained an experienced offender immediately after committing a crime on the territory of the region.

During the search, the police found fake notes of 200 euros, stencils, bank cards, pens of different colors with ultraviolet flashlights, SIM cards and other physical evidence.

Also, law enforcement officers documented 5 more similar crimes in different cities of Ukraine: Zaporozhye, Cherkassy, Kiev.

Investigators, following the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, informed the attacker about the suspicion of the manufacture, storage, sale of counterfeit money [ch. 1 .199 KKU].
