The State Emergency Service urges citizens to evacuate immediately from flooding areas in the Kherson region
Mykhailo Grib, acting director of the Emergency Response Department of the State Emergency Situations of Ukraine Mykhailo Grib, said on the air of the national television marathon “Yenyi Novosti” that the situation in the Ostrov area is now extremely difficult — water reaches the first floors.
“However, people are on 6-7 floors, do not want to evacuate, do not listen to our requests to leave, wait for the water to recede soon and do not understand how difficult the situation is now. So I want to appeal to all those who have not yet left — the water will come off, but it will be a long process. Rescuers cannot constantly bring food and water. So we call on everyone to leave dangerous areas,” Mykhailo Grib said.
According to him, as of now in Kherson there is no increase in water levels, it remains within 5.4 meters. During the day, the water level decreased by 2-3 cm.
