The State Emergency Service presented safety trainings in the capital's metro
Today, July 27, at the metro station “Golden Gate”, employees of the State Emergency Service together with specialists of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine presented safety trainings for visitors of the capital's subway.
Four locations worked with relevant specialists: sappers, specialists of the educational and methodological center of civil defense, doctors of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine and psychologists of the State Emergency Service.
Passengers learned how to act during an air alarm, what to take with them to shelter, how to handle explosive objects, stop bleeding, provide assistance in case of explosive injuries, and what to do in case of panic.
SNSS specialists focused on the importance of properly responding to the “Air Alarm” signal. According to the UN, since February 24, more than 5 thousand people have been killed in Ukraine, about 7 thousand more Ukrainians have been injured. The number of victims could have been lower if the majority of citizens as well as business entities had observed security measures during the “Air Alarm” signal and went to shelter in a timely manner.
The organizers chose the venue for the security trainings not by chance, because the Kyiv Metro now functions as one of the largest shelters in Ukraine. It should be noted that the SNS already has experience in conducting such trainings at Kharkiv metro stations, where thousands of Kharkiv residents, thanks to rescuers and their partners, have gained vital knowledge and skills.
