SNS signed Memorandum of Cooperation with the Council of Veterans of Ukraine under the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and NGOs
Today, February 10, the All-Ukrainian signing of Memoranda of Cooperation between the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Council of Veterans of Ukraine under the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, as well as public veterans' organizations took place. During the event, the Memorandum of Cooperation was signed simultaneously by representatives of the territorial units of the State Emergency Service and veterans organizations from all over the country.
The event took place online.
The main purpose of the Memoranda is to cooperate in attracting the public to membership in voluntary fire protection units, which are formed by local self-government bodies and function in the territorial communities of the country. The Parties therefore agreed to coordinate their efforts and cooperate to achieve this objective.
Acting Head of the State Emergency Service Serhiy Kruk thanked those present for the start of important work that will strengthen the interaction between rescuers and volunteers, and also drew attention to the example of the functioning of the voluntary fire protection movement in European countries. In particular, there are more than 600,000 such volunteers in Poland.
Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kirill Sergeev welcomed the desire of veteran organizations to help people side by side with firefighters and expressed hope that the number of those willing will only grow.
In turn, Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for European Integration Oleksiy Ilyashenko said that in implementation of the Decree of the President of Ukraine “On the Annual National Program under the auspices of the Ukraine-NATO Commission”, which determined the need to establish active cooperation of local self-government bodies with war veterans, who took direct part in the anti-terrorist operation, in measures to ensure national security and defense, repulse and deter armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs developed methodological recommendations, in particular on the issue of involving veterans in the performance of civil protection tasks, etc.
The Chairman of the Council of Veterans of Ukraine Volodymyr Laguta noted that the approach to a new direction of cooperation will allow to more systematically establish interaction between the State Emergency Service and veterans' organizations. He added that veterans are constantly involved as volunteers to eliminate emergencies, in particular during floods in the Carpathian region or fires in Zhytomyr region that occurred in 2020.
Deputy Chairman of the State Emergency Service for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization Roman Primush noted that the development of the system of voluntary fire traffic in Ukraine is defined as one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He added that this movement is actually a change in the consciousness of citizens, a different approach to determining the role of each person in society, etc. According to him, the experience, desire and leadership qualities of veterans will allow this ambitious project to be filled with meaning.
At the end of the meeting, Dmytro Bondar, Deputy Chairman of the State Emergency Service, thanked the participants for their cooperation and stressed that the ultimate goal of joint work is the saved lives and property of our citizens.
