The State Emergency Service received 18 SUVs from the World Congress of Ukrainians, which will be handed over to demining units
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine received eighteen all-wheel drive pickups as part of the “Unite with Ukraine” initiative of the World Congress of Ukrainians.
Fiat Fullback vehicles will be used to support the work of demining teams trying to clear towns and villages of thousands of tons of deadly explosive devices left behind by Russian troops.
“The most important priority for SCU is the supply of quality equipment in full cooperation and cooperation with our Ukrainian partners. We listen to their needs and wishes in order to better understand what support needs to be provided...”, - said Andriy Potichny, director of the “Unite with Ukraine” initiative of the World Congress of Ukrainians.
According to official sources, 30% of the country's 174,000 square kilometers is contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance left by the Russian occupiers. Ukraine is now considered the most mined country in the world. Over the past 12 months, there have been more than 600 cases of people affected by landmines on the territory of Ukraine. In addition, mines make large areas of land inaccessible and unusable by farmers, and directly cause injuries and fatal injuries.
“We are extremely grateful to the World Congress of Ukrainians for the assistance provided in the form of vehicles for our pyrotechnic units. Indeed, in the conditions of those challenges and the load on this area of activity of the State Emergency Service, this is exactly the necessary technique that will help make the demining process more efficient, and the working conditions of personnel more comfortable,” said Serhiy Kruk, Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The World Congress of Ukrainians, as part of its #UniteWithUkraine initiative, provided more than $40 million in assistance to the Territorial Defense Forces, the Armed Forces and other security agencies. Donations have been collected in more than 70 countries around the world.
