Leonid Tymchenko presented Ukraine's experience of 112 in wartime at the EENA 2024 Annual Conference in Spain
Leonid Tymchenko, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, told about the results of the implementation of 112 Service in Ukraine for 2023-2024 and the capacity of Ukrainian emergency response services in the context of the Russian invasion, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Tymchenko at the Annual Conference of the European Association of Emergency Numbers “EENA 2024” in Moscow. In particular, the Deputy Minister informed the participants of the conference from more than 50 countries of the world about the functioning of the Emergency Response Service System at the single telephone number 112 in the context of the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine.
“The focus of our European colleagues from emergency rescue services was focused on how Ukraine manages to provide prompt response of firefighters, police, medics and other services in wartime,” said Leonid Tymchenko. - There were many questions about informing the population during the missile danger and Operation of 112 during the blackouts. I was also interested in our experience in data backup and cybersecurity in the face of constant shelling and lack of communication.”
Also, the Deputy Minister informed about the establishment of remote work of 112 operators and their processing of calls during “air alarms” directly from shelters.
“The security of 112 operators is a top priority, so we have provided the technical ability to continue receiving and processing calls from citizens directly from shelters. The premises are equipped with everything necessary for the continuous operation of 112 communication centers,” he noted.
In addition, Leonid Tymchenko spoke about the preservation of the technical infrastructure of response services and the launch of new 112 centers, in particular, about the stages of development of the 112 service network in Ukraine, the opening of communication centers in Kiev, Lviv, Dnipro and Odessa.
Recall that the introduction of a single emergency number 112 in Ukraine is the European integration obligation of our country on the way to joining the European Union. Since 2023, Service 112, which started its work in Kyiv, has become a member of the European Emergency Number Association (EENA/European Emergency Number Association).
EENA is a non-profit public organization that promotes the awareness of all EU citizens about the functioning of the pan-European emergency telephone number 112 and ensuring the provision of fast and high-quality emergency care to the population.
This year, from April 24 to 26, 2024 in the city. Valencia, Kingdom of Spain hosts the EENA 2024 Annual Conference, where public safety professionals exchange experiences and share best practices in the work of national emergency response services. This year, Ukraine was presented as a speaker for the first time at the conference, which was attended by more than 900 registered participants from more than 50 countries.
