Additional level of protection: Ukrainians will receive new driver's licenses and vehicle registration certificates
On December 26, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on an additional level of protection of driver's license and vehicle registration certificate came into force. The introduced changes will help reduce the risk of forgery of documents.
Service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will issue citizens with documents that have additional elements of protection. They will be applied to the driver's license and vehicle registration certificate. Therefore, the protective coating of the forms will have a special marking. Additionally, a QR code will be placed on the certificate form in the lower right corner. It will contain a link to the electronic service, which is located on the website of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to verify the information entered in the certificate form.
Such enhanced protection will significantly reduce the likelihood of counterfeiting. Also online will allow you to check the legitimacy of the vehicle registration certificate. In addition, the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is currently working on the introduction of protective elements on both the driver's license and registration certificate.
Service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs now issue forms of the specified documents of the existing sample until full consumption. As soon as they are used, but no later than August 1, 2024, citizens will be issued driver's licenses and registration certificates with additional elements of protection.
Importantly, citizens can continue to use the driver's license and vehicle registration certificate, which were issued earlier. These documents are valid for the period for which they were issued and can be exchanged only at will.
