Volunteer “Owl” left the occupied territories to protect Ukraine
Steal a grenade launcher with shots from under the noses of the invaders. Destroy the invader just for his tea drinking, “pour” all over the enemy positions. All this is the vivid everyday life of a resident of Kharkiv region, who overcame more than 50 kilometers of the occupied territory to join the ranks of the 3rd brigade of operational purpose “Spartan”.
“Owl” instantly reacted to the news of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian occupiers, because he had no illusions about the moral and ethical values of murderers, executioners and rapists who believed in their impunity. The invaders quickly advanced through Ukrainian territories: his native village of Nova Gnylitsa was occupied already on February 24. She remained in brutal captivity for seven months. Meanwhile, since February 26, “Sova” has been defending Kharkiv, and has done everything possible to bring about the de-occupation of the small homeland.
“I left the occupation to become a volunteer. On February 26, he was already on the position,” says “Sova”. “We recorded at about two o'clock in the morning how the distance to our BTR was measured with a rangefinder. Between us and the enemy position there was a distance of one and a half kilometers. The next day, my brother and I, who is also serving and “Rudy” (call fighter), went and found there RPGs, shots, anti-tank missiles. They were preparing to strike. But we took everything out of there, and put stretch marks.”
There are many such raids in the biography of the guard, because he gladly joined combat groups that carried out various raiding and reconnaissance activities and formed on a voluntary basis.
“We had our own group. We went to the district to find out when and where Russian SAU, tanks work. They launched their drone, they saw us. When we were just starting to move in their direction, there was an immediate barrage of gunfire. But we found out where they work from and replaced everything there with mines. Then a group of OZSP joined us. When they went out to work, they found the invaders sitting behind the fire and just drinking tea. Of course, they were noticed and worked on them. Sniper killed three. The other group then checked the result. Together with the volunteers “Archaeologist” and “Nazar”, they joined the group, where there was a specialist who had a device for intercepting communications, worked quite successfully in Northern Saltovka and Pyatikhatky,” the guard recalls.
The command quickly saw the leadership qualities, ability to learn quickly and the fighting character of the Owl. This influenced his further military career.
“In July, I was already the commander of the Vasilek mortar, caliber 82 mm. We operated in Ruska Lozova, Dementiivka, Slatyne. We were told that we had worked very well. Somehow under n.p. Slatino, we have already completed the task, everything was fine, but suddenly we noticed that the BMP left the forest lane. Our gunner “Moore” threw four mines at her with a direct guide, - explains “Owl”. But further changes in the theater of hostilities put new perspectives and new tasks for the guard. - We were transferred to the direction of Kupyansk. And then to the Luhansk direction. I became the commander of the 120 mm mortar. We worked on the crossing across the river. Our infantry stood on one side, and the Russian - across the river. Of course, we worked so that ours could cross the river.”
In the Svatov direction, work did not become less, rather the opposite. The traveling mortar calculation worked day and night. Under the conditions of total saturation of the airspace with enemy sensors, this is an extremely dangerous job that requires steel exposure.
“Now we are also going out, working. We are constantly seen from drones. And as soon as we work out, the answer comes right away. If there is a team, and we need to fire, we shoot even when the enemy responds to us, “Owl” admits.
His small team passed brutal tests on the front line. Most of the comrades came from the infantry, and therefore understand from their own experience how difficult it is without artillery support in the trench.
The guards of the Spartan brigade are a specific component of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, they professionally destroy Russian invaders on the eastern borders, bravely fight for the will and sovereignty of Ukrainian lands.
