To the anniversary of the Slobozhanska offensive operation: how it was (VIDEO)
A year ago, under the conditions of increased secrecy measures, the Slobozhansky offensive of Ukrainian troops began. After months of positional confrontation, the pace and suddenness of the offensive actions shocked the occupiers.
Over the course of several days, the Ukrainian Defense Forces pushed back the Russians to the borders in the north and east of the Kharkiv region, cleared the Lyman direction in Donetsk region and established themselves in Luhansk region.
The great autumn breakthrough is still remembered by its participants as a miracle. The first videos showing Ukrainian defenders raising the national flag in liberated villages began appearing online on September 4, 2022. It was then that the fighters of the 15th Slavic Regiment and 103 Brigade of the Terboron liberated the village of Ozernoe in Limanshchyna.
The positions of the Russian invaders began to “crumble” like dominoes. On September 6, the guards already occupied positions at Volokhovy Yar in Kharkiv region.
“We bypassed Balakliya, and started storming Volokhiv Yar. The enemy did not wait and did not resist. During the first day, they beat it to the highway from Kharkov to Izyum, the road was held all night, and from dawn to noon the settlement was completely taken under control,” says the commander of the special purpose battalion “Donbass” 15 of the Slavic regiment of NGU Kogot.
The officer's unit fought for several months in a row in the Balakliya direction, later took part in the September offensive. On September 8, the Ukrainian Defense Forces liberated Balakliya.
“The counteroffensive began completely unexpectedly in early September. We split into three groups and went to Balaklia. They passed a certain distance, then dug in, again took up the defense, and the Armed Forces went forward all the way to Izyum. The city was very broken,” recalls National Guard officer Kluch.
