Military diplomats from almost 30 countries got acquainted with the tasks performed by the border agency of Ukraine and the security situation on the border.

Yesterday, February 17, representatives of the Kiev Association of Military Attaches visited the Administration of the State Border Guard Service.

As noted by First Deputy Head of the State DPSU Volodymyr Nikiforenko, border guards appreciate the support that Ukraine receives in this difficult time.

“Everyone is well aware of what is happening on our borders, what tension there is at the moment. These are military groups around Ukraine and the aggravation of the situation in the Black and Azov Seas. Along with this, a large amount of disinformation and manipulation is spreading in the media space in order to sow panic among Ukrainians, undermine the economic and financial stability of our country. In this situation, it is important to soberly assess the risks and remain calm,” Volodymyr Nikiforenko stressed.

Separately, he expressed gratitude to the partners for providing practical assistance to strengthen the capabilities of the State Border Service and strengthen the state border of Ukraine.

Representatives of the Kiev Association of Military Attachés got acquainted with the tasks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the work of the Main Service Management Center of the Department. In addition, they demonstrated the system of functioning of the Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters, which is a temporary consultative and advisory body of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and is formed to coordinate the activities of central and local executive bodies, military formations, law enforcement agencies and public associations during the strengthening of security border and border protection.

During the visit, it was noted that Ukraine, due to military escalation and the ongoing temporary occupation of territories, is constantly looking for new approaches to coordination of actions of various law enforcement and law enforcement agencies in case of aggravation of the situation on the border. It was also noted that the security component is now influenced by the presence of a significant number of groups of military formations of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus, which are accumulated in the border areas adjacent to Ukraine, including under the pretext of joint military exercises. In addition, last year there was a response to the migration crisis, which was especially observed on the borders of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia with the Republic of Belarus and which was artificially organized and controlled by Belarusian law enforcement agencies.

The military attache noted that a joint special border operation “Polissya” is being conducted since November 2021 to strengthen security measures. It involves the forces and means of the security sector in the amount of about 9 thousand people with the appropriate equipment. In total, five combined tactical and special training exercises were conducted according to a single scenario plan in the border areas on the border with Belarus. This made it possible to clearly work out the interaction between the forces involved and the necessary actions to quickly respond to the change of situation, clarify routes and time indicators and much more. The most likely scenarios are modeled and clear actions of all state mechanisms are planned.
