The State Tax Service of Ukraine does not observe the excitement of obtaining passports of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad
Recently, the media of Ukraine has spread information that citizens of Ukraine are massively issuing passports for travel abroad - allegedly the hype began after the beginning of the evacuation of citizens of other countries from Ukraine due to the growing threat from the Russian Federation.
The State Tax Service of Ukraine analyzed the situation regarding the number of issued foreign passports in the period from January 1 to February 15, 2022, as well as similar periods of 2019, 2020 and 2021.
As you can see from the graph, there is no hype for obtaining passports of citizens of Ukraine for traveling abroad. On the other hand, the number of documents issued since the beginning of 2022 is even less than in the period before the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine.
In the language of statistics, the situation regarding the registration of passports of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad by the units of the State Tax Service is as follows: in the period from January 1 to February 15, 2022, almost 325 thousand applications were accepted, which is 98.8% more than in the same period of 2021. But at the same time, this number is 15.5% lower than in 2020 and 38% less than in 2019.
