Ten former police officers of Kharkiv region announced on suspicion of treason
They dreamed of a career in the “People's Police”, but after the de-occupation of the territory, they had to flee from Ukrainian justice. Former policemen are reasonably suspected of working for the enemy during the occupation of Volchansk.
Operators of the central apparatus of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police, together with employees of the SBI, under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, collected a sufficient amount of evidence confirming the work of ten former police officers of the Chuguev RUP on the aggressor country. At the moment, they have all been declared in absentia on suspicion of part 2 of Art. 111 (treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Law enforcers established that during the occupation of the city of Volchansk, located in the Kharkiv region, the defendants went to serve in the illegal law enforcement agency of the occupation authorities. The defectors helped the enemy to establish their order in the city and campaigned to support the Russian authorities.
However, it was not possible to wear an enemy uniform for long. After the liberation of the territory by Ukrainian military traitors, they had to flee, leaving behind Russian-style uniforms, weapons and documents confirming their illegal activities. Physical evidence was discovered and seized during authorized searches of the place of residence of the defendants.
In the future, the suspects will be declared wanted. They face 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
