Recently, reports have been increasingly circulating on various information resources that border guards do not release or will not release 17-year-old boys from Ukraine.

This is allegedly due to changes in the order of registration of primary military registration.

Once again, we remind that after the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, travel outside the state is limited for male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 years (except for certain exceptions). These restrictions do not apply to 17-year-old boys.

At the same time, we note that the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine ensures registration of citizens at the state border, in accordance with the norms of legislation and the Rules for crossing the state border by citizens of Ukraine, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 27.01.1995 No. 57.

The passage of persons across the border is carried out by authorized officials of the border department on valid passport documents, and in cases stipulated by the legislation of Ukraine — in the presence of other necessary documents giving the right to cross the state border during martial law.

Separately, we note that in accordance with Art. 313 of the Civil Code of Ukraine, an individual who has reached the age of sixteen has the right to free independent travel outside Ukraine. However, when planning trips, we also recommend that you familiarize yourself with the rules of the country of destination.

Once again, we urge you to trust only official sources of information and to familiarize yourself with the Rules for crossing the state border by citizens of Ukraine in advance.
