Today, January 31, Denis Monastyrsky met with Canada's Minister of National Defence Anita Anand. The parties discussed the state of security in the interior of the country.

Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky thanked Canadian partners for their consistent support of Ukraine. He spoke about the plans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the construction of an intellectual Ukrainian-Belarusian and Ukrainian-Russian border, the length of which is more than 2000 km. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed foreign colleagues about the internal security threats of the country and about yesterday's detention of people who planned mass riots in the center of Kiev to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.

The Minister of Internal Affairs highly appreciated the work of Operation UNIFIER, which made a significant contribution to the development of the Sergeant Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine.

“We appreciate the support of the Government of Canada and our cooperation with you. Therefore, we hope to further strengthen the cooperation between the NGU and Operation UNIFIER in the field of training of National Guard servicemen,” the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine noted.

In turn, Canadian Minister of National Defence Anita Annan noted that since 2015, about 30,000 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as more than 2,000 soldiers of the National Guard, have already been trained as part of the UNIFIER operation.

“In the near future, about 60 servicemen of the Canadian Armed Forces will be sent to Ukraine to expand the mission. There is an opportunity to increase this number of contingent to 400 people,” said Anita Anand.
