Denis Monastyrsky and Bridget Brink shared a vision of the main areas of joint work
Today, June 6, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky and the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States to Ukraine Bridget Brink discussed the issues of cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the US Embassy and outlined the main directions of their work. We note that this is the first official meeting of the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States since her appointment.
During the conversation, Denis Monastyrsky voiced the key directions of the ministry's work during the war. Among them: rearmament of the combat units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reduction of crime and investigation of war crimes, demining of territories after hostilities, restoration of critical infrastructure of the SNS and NPU, and prevention of human trafficking. The Minister noted that the last point is due to the large number of displaced persons who have left their homes and the country.
“The entire team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs works on these issues on a daily basis. In addition, I will personally voice them at the meeting with the ambassadors of the “G7”, — stressed the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In response to the Minister's questions about the vision of priorities in the work of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, Ms. Brink named among the five main areas that the U.S. Embassy will work on. Most of them are those that relate to the security block.
“My first priority is to help you defend yourself. The second is to help people who need it. This applies especially to humanitarian issues and their financing. The third is support for the justice system in Ukraine. The fourth is to secure the stability of our country and yours. This applies to both weapons and the safety of citizens. The number five priority is to restore the embassy. I want to rebuild it from the inside in order to be able to work effectively with the team today,” the ambassador said.
The parties also discussed the security situation in Ukraine and agreed on joint efforts to restore peace in the country.
