Denis Monastyrsky spoke about the work of the National Police on the occasion of a professional holiday
Today, July 4, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky spoke about the reform and the work of the police during the war on the air of the “United News” tele-marathon. On the occasion of the Day of the National Police of Ukraine, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs attended the meeting in the center of the capital.
“The war was a real crash test for the National Police system. All 7 years the National Police was built, reformed, changed and grew. Today I can proudly say that 130 days of war have been a real test for every member of this great team. This system has survived,” the Minister stressed.
He noted that today police officers remain the basis of security of Ukrainians. They evacuate citizens under shelling, participate in demining, investigate more than 20,000 war crimes proceedings.
“The police stayed at their places of work all 130 days. Security today is a basic demand of citizens and the National Police along with the Armed Forces and other military formations today help to feel this security,” Denis Monastyrsky assured.
Regarding the criminal situation, the head said that the first weeks of the war were a sharp decline in criminal tensions: “In fact, all attention shifted to the war, including the criminal world. We now understand that due to the movement of our citizens, large amounts of humanitarian aid and certain restrictions, abuses have returned.”
The Minister mentioned cases of looting and countersabotage work. According to him, about a hundred enemy sabotage groups were identified during the first weeks, most of which were uncovered and transferred to the appropriate authorities.
“The question of the threat of sabotage and intelligence groups remains. The National Police works daily to ensure the safety of citizens. Today we note activity, especially on the border with the Russian Federation and the Russian Federation. We understand that some of them can operate on the territory of Ukraine and the threat does not disappear. Russia uses such a tool to intimidate people,” said Denis Monastyrsky.
He also added that after the end of the war for the National Police there will be no less difficult period. Everyone prepares for these challenges and studies the experiences of other countries that have survived the wars of the last decades.
