Denis Monastyrsky held a meeting with a delegation of US senators

Today, January 17, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky held a meeting with a delegation of US senators, which included Rob Portman, Chris Murphy, Gene Shagin, Amy Klobuchar, Kevin Kramer, Richard Blumenthal, Roger Vicker, as well as representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine - Interim U.S. Attorney in Ukraine Christina Quinn and Head of Law Enforcement at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine Sarah Langenkamp.

The parties discussed further strategic cooperation, as well as the possibilities of strengthening cooperation in view of new threats to Ukraine.

Denis Monastyrsky spoke about the main threats to the national security of Ukraine and the readiness of the forces and means of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to respond promptly to them.

“As the main scenario, we see not only the possibility of external aggression, but also the destabilization of the internal situation in Ukraine,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the US Government for the support allocated to strengthen the protection of the state border of Ukraine.

“This is a very timely assistance, which will definitely contribute to increasing the protection of the state border of Ukraine not only with the Republic of Belarus, but also with the Russian Federation,” the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine stressed.

In turn, the senators assured of the readiness of the United States to strengthen support in case of aggravation of the situation in Ukraine.
