Denis Monastyrsky presented the projects of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the formation of a security environment in Ukraine
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs presented to the heads of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs the concept of security measures. According to Denis Monastyrsky, earlier the project “Safe Country” for discussion was presented to the President of Ukraine and to the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement Activities.
“Safe Country” does not contain projects that are already being implemented. We are talking about changes that should improve the security landscape of Ukraine. Today we are talking about categories such as a safe community. This issue is currently being developed jointly with the Ministry of Regional Development. The project “Safe Country” includes the project “Safe City”, which is based on the system of video cameras and the subsequent processing of data from them. But taking into account that they are locked in a single video system, to which access is limited. First of all, we are talking about cameras with face recognition function, car license plates and which can signal, with the help of artificial intelligence, that a wanted person or a vehicle has been found,” said Denis Monastyrsky.
According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the President met with the head of USAID Samantha Power, at which the project “Safe Country” was discussed, among other things.
“We plan that the funds for the implementation of the project will be provided by local communities. At the expense of the state it is necessary to finance regional centers and settlements on the border with Russia and Belarus. We understand that after the war it will still be a dangerous zone, which will be introduced into a separate legal regime. There will be a special passport control, check-in and check-out in this area. Our American partners are ready to help us, both in the arrangement of the state border and with this project,” said Denis Monastyrsky.
The Minister of Interior stressed that the project “Safe Country” also refers to a safe, public space — railway stations, bus stations, as well as shopping centers.
“What we're talking about is that they're going to have the framework and the throughput for the things that people come in and out with. This is important because after the end of the war, it will go into a hidden phase. This also applies to school safety. People need to see and understand that they are in a new security reality. A person should feel protected,” Denis Monastyrsky stressed.
In addition, he noted that a number of draft laws will be prepared for the implementation of the “Safe Country” project.
