The Minister of Internal Affairs spoke about the activities of the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in particular the police, in the conditions of blackouts and infrastructure destruction during a meeting with the delegation of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of the G7 countries in Ukraine.

According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the constant power outage and destruction of infrastructure facilities on the territory of the state requires an appropriate response of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system. “We must do everything to ensure that the security situation is stable and controlled.

Therefore, we have already developed all the necessary algorithms so that our employees know how to act in a situation of prolonged absence of heat, electricity or communication. Also, almost five thousand cadets of higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who undergo practice in police units, and representatives of volunteer formations of territorial communities, are already involved in enhanced service and patrolling. The routes of the outfits are as close as possible to the objects of social and critical infrastructure, as well as to the Points of Inviolability. In addition, in cases of traffic lights being turned off, the patrols regulate traffic at all major intersections,” said Denis Monastyrsky.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the measures taken in time had a positive effect on the state of the criminogenic situation in the country. Thus, there is a decrease in crime by 16 percent: 255.1 thousand criminal offenses were committed to the ERDR for 11 months of 2022, and for the same period last year 305 thousand criminal offenses.

“There is a decrease in the number of committed certain types of criminal offenses against the life and health of people, as well as against property, in particular theft — 1.7 times, robberies - 2.2 times, robberies - twice, etc. There is also an improvement in the situation on the country's roads, where the number of accidents has decreased by 1.8 times. In addition, the number of citizens injured as a result of traffic accidents decreased by 24% and deaths by 17%. The reasons for the positive dynamics can be called the introduction of a curfew in all regions of the state, an increase in the presence on the streets of settlements of police officers, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (including. TRO), the National Guard and armed representatives of volunteer formations of territorial communities (DFTG), as well as restrictions on the sale of alcohol products,” added Denis Monastyrsky.
