Denis Monastyrsky: In a few days, the operation of automatic speed fixing cameras will be restored
Today, May 4, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky during the live broadcast of “Yedeni Novosti” spoke about the accident in Rivne region, a hotline for the search for the missing and demining of Ukrainian territories.
Regarding the traffic accident in Rivne region, the head said: “Undoubtedly, this is the largest accident in the last few years. Unfortunately, we can voice the 26 dead and 12 wounded, which is the limit of life and death. The number of dead could be replenished.”
He reminded that in time of war we should not forget about road safety, because this is an article that continues to kill our citizens every day.
“Due to the fact that the Mercedes-Benz Vito minibus that drove into the oncoming lane, which was performing an overtaking maneuver, could not cope with the steering, it collided with a gas truck. In turn, the car with fuel drove into the oncoming lane and collided with the Setra passenger bus, where 35 passengers were, as well as the driver. There was an explosion, people died at the same time,” the Minister clarified the details.
During the broadcast, he announced that in a few days the operation of automatic speed cameras will be restored.
Regarding the missing, Denis Monastyrsky said: “Currently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs operates a hotline 0 894 201 867, through which relatives of the dead or missing persons can contact, make a statement about it. And today there is an opportunity to cooperate with our mobile operator and establish the last location of a specific subscriber number in order to understand where it needs to be searched. We already have several thousand calls to this number.”
They also discussed demining. The Minister stressed that work is ahead “for years”. In his opinion, every citizen should learn to distinguish between explosive substances.
“For this purpose, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Education, prepares appropriate courses in schools, explanatory posters. On the websites of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and tele-marathons, we will tell how they look,” the head added.
