Delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine held talks with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko and Head of the National Police of Ukraine Ivan Vyhivsky held talks with the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany, headed by the State Secretary of the Department Bernd Krzzer.

The Ukrainian side stressed that for our country it is important to support Germany in the context of the implementation of European law enforcement practices and amendments of Ukrainian legislation to EU norms. German colleagues assured of their support on these issues.

Currently, the State Migration Service of Ukraine with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Homeland of Germany is implementing the project “Sustainability, strengthening and restoration of the Ukrainian migration and consular service”.

Within the framework of this project, DMS enlists support for the development of the newly created Situation Center for monitoring migration processes and risk analysis in the field of migration (training of personnel, purchase of licensed software and equipment).

Separately, the DMS, with the support of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development, is conducting a dialogue with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany on bringing asylum systems in Ukraine to the best European practices. In particular, the need was expressed to conduct an examination of Ukrainian legislation and bring it into line with EU legislation, exchange of experience (expert and familiarization visits), assistance in establishing a “hub for working with refugees and asylum seekers” in Kyiv, taking into account the best European practices.

Ivan Vyhivsky, in turn, told about the investigation by law enforcement officers of war crimes committed by the Russian occupiers. The police have already recorded more than 117,000 such crimes.

Bernd Kreuzer promised continued assistance to Ukraine and the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including in the work on demining. It was agreed to strengthen cooperation on migration policy issues.

Ukrainian officials thanked their German counterparts for the assistance provided by Germany to Ukraine and expressed hope for increased support.
