Due to regular shelling of militants, operation of checkpoint “Shchastia” was suspended
Yesterday, without complying with the ceasefire agreements, the occupiers targeted Shchastya checkpoint three times with mortars, large-caliber machine guns and anti-tank grenade launchers. There are no casualties among personnel. Infrastructure has been damaged.
In addition, this morning Russian mercenaries are again firing mortars along the humanitarian corridor “Luhansk-Shchastya”.
Therefore, taking into account the aggravation of the situation and minimizing the risks to the lives and health of citizens, the commander of the Joint Forces decided to temporarily suspend the passage of persons and vehicles through the checkpoint “Shchastya” from 8 am on February 20, 2022 for the period of the threat.
Due to the blocking of the movement of citizens from the temporarily occupied territory, this road corridor was used mostly for the movement of humanitarian goods from international organizations.
Since the beginning of the year, through the Checkpoint “Schastya”, two humanitarian columns delivered 185.3 tons of cargo for the needs of the civilian population of the temporarily occupied territory. Among which are medical products, clothing, furniture. Such supplies help peaceful residents in the difficult socio-economic situation created by the occupation administration of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. And on February 18, a humanitarian column delivering cargo from the UN and returning from the temporarily occupied Luhansk came under fire from militants at the Checkpoint “Shchastia”.
