This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the head of work on the elimination of the consequences of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant during a meeting of the headquarters in Kherson.
Before the meeting, the Minister visited the Ship Square of the city and the Ostrov neighborhood, from where the water gradually leaves. In the streets that were flooded a few days ago, utilities are already working.
“The water level is falling, quite rapidly. There will be a lot of work for utilities, because the roofs of cars, trees, metal structures, garbage are already appearing. We have a task to remove all this quickly,” said Igor Klimeko
To speed up the process of eliminating the consequences of the hydroelectric power plant explosion, additional forces of utilities from other regions, as well as special equipment, will be sent to the city in the coming days. One of the main issues is the security situation in the emergency zone.
“I have given orders to strengthen security measures in the territories in order to avoid injury to local residents and looting. Today we will initiate the extension of the curfew so that we can quickly eliminate all further consequences of the hydropower plant explosion,” the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine said.
Staff members listened to the report of the Deputy Minister of Health Igor Kuzin.
According to him, to date, no outbreaks of infectious diseases have been recorded, centralized water meets the standards. However, residents of affected communities are not advised to use water from wells, it is necessary to carry out disinfection of drinking water. Swimming in water bodies is strictly prohibited.
Every day in the areas affected by the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant, almost 150 samples of drinking and river water are taken. In addition, specialized laboratories of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine will be launched in the Kherson region.
