Bohdan Drapyaty: The draft law “On the circulation of civilian firearms” will differ from the one voted in the first reading
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Bohdan Drapyaty in his article for Voice of Ukraine spoke about the preparation of the draft law “On the circulation of civilian firearms”, which the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading. Today, the People's Deputies of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other interested parties, are preparing this draft law for the second reading.
“So far, we are the only country in Europe that has not yet settled the issue of the circulation of civilian firearms by a special act at the legislative level. The People's Deputies of Ukraine, amending the second reading, consider the proposals of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which are based on the best international practices. The draft law will differ significantly from the one voted on in the first reading. The final decision is for the people's deputies of Ukraine,” Bohdan Drapyaty said.
Recall that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine asked the opinion of citizens regarding the circulation of weapons in Ukraine. The survey was conducted in the Diya app, more than 1.7 million people took part in the voting.
59% for the fact that all citizens who comply with the law can have pistols and are free to carry them with them in public places;
