Battle of Antonovsky Bridge
On February 24, Russian occupation forces began a breakthrough from the side of the temporarily occupied Crimea through the Kalanchak checkpoint.
Already at noon it became known about the presence of Russian military near the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant. According to intelligence, at that time a 35-thousand enemy army advanced towards Kherson.
Fierce fighting for the Antonovsky Bridge was fought for two days. The Roto-Tactical Group of the National Guard bravely defended the crossing, and after the breakthrough of the defense, covered the withdrawal of the Allies from the already surrounded Kherson.
During the counteroffensive, the invaders, retreating from Kherson, blew up the Antonovsky Bridge to prevent Ukrainian troops from liberating the left-bank Kherson region.
