Safety on the water: rescuers urge citizens to follow the rules when swimming in reservoirs
In the summer period, the number of tragic cases on water bodies traditionally increases significantly. Looking for salvation from the scorching sun, people choose to relax mainly places near the water.
Therefore, in order for the rest to bring only benefits and positive emotions, rescuers urge citizens to observe the rules of safety on the water.
So the other day a message came to the Rescue Service “101” that a teenage girl disappeared while swimming on the Desenka River, in the Kiev region. Rescuers who arrived at the scene of the call found the girl at a distance of 20 m from the shore, at a depth of 8 m. Doctors tried to save the girl's life, but unfortunately she died.
A tragic incident occurred on Lake Malinovka. On the surface of the water, at a distance of about 2 m from the shore, the body of a man, approximately 40-50 years old, was found. The body was brought ashore and handed over to the 102 service to establish the circumstances of the tragic incident.
On July 23, at 20:50 in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the 101 Rescue Service received a message that in an urban-type settlement a man went to swim in the Oril River and did not return.
Already on July 25, during a re-examination of the water area of the river by a diving and rescue team, a man was found without signs of life.
Therefore, we remind you that first of all, for recreation on water bodies it is necessary to choose only safe places — where rescue posts are created, the bottom is checked for the absence of dangerous objects, and appropriate conditions are also equipped.
It is safer to rest on the water in the light part of the day. Swimming is allowed in calm windless weather at a water temperature of at least +18°C, air not lower than +24°C.
In addition, it is strictly forbidden to enter the water while intoxicated, to bathe children without adult supervision, to leave children unattended near the water, to approach vessels, boats and boats sailing nearby, etc.
Be as careful as possible while relaxing on the water!
