March 24, 2023 in the city. Brussels hosted the Third Security Conference of the countries participating in the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. The 14 countries participating in the Strategy, as well as representatives of the European Commission, Interpol, Europol and the Center for Law Enforcement in Southeast Europe (SELEC) discussed the issue of strengthening international police cooperation in the field of Russian security, as well as the impact of an aggressive war on the security situation in the Danube region.
Ukraine was represented at the ministerial meeting by a delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Oleksiy Sergeev. In his speech, the Deputy Minister stressed the importance of ensuring the mechanism of strengthening the interaction of all stakeholders to guarantee the security of the Danube region, noted the active participation of bodies and units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in hostilities and emphasized the importance of consolidating joint efforts of European countries in repelling Russian aggression Federation.
“The security of Europe is inseparable from security in Ukraine, so our cooperation is a joint contribution to the development and strengthening of the European security architecture,” the Deputy Minister noted.
Alexey Sergeev also informed about the implementation of the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the formation of brigades of the offensive guard and expressed hope for further assistance and support of the law enforcement sector of Ukraine.
All participating countries stressed the need to strengthen law enforcement cooperation, condemned Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military invasion of Ukraine and confirmed their intention to continue to support Ukraine in all possible ways.
On the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference, the Ukrainian delegation held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs, Integration and Sports of the State of Bavaria Joachim Herrmann, during which they discussed the challenges faced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine today. The Bavarian Minister noted the high level of police cooperation between the Ukrainian and Bavarian police and assured of continued support.
