Safe UA: How the system of emergency assistance to the population on the single number 112 works (VIDEO)
From July 2023, a single assistance number 112 is gradually being introduced in Ukraine. Citizens, instead of dialing different emergency numbers, can dial one and get the necessary assistance as soon as possible.
First, the call goes to the operators of the 112 Service, then requests are directed to the necessary units that help in a particular emergency.
Importantly, people with hearing or speech impairments can also contact the 112 line. They will communicate by video with operators who speak sign language. To do this, send an SMS message to number 112 and wait for a connection link.
Currently, line 112 is already operating in two macro-regions of Ukraine — central and western. According to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Leonid Tymchenko, from May 1, 2024, the 112 service center should be operational in Dnipro, which will cover the regions in the east of Ukraine. And already in September it is planned to open the fourth center, which will be based in the city of Odessa, it will cover the southern regions.
In general, according to the schedule of the Ministry, by the end of December 2024, it is planned to extend the work of Service 112 throughout Ukraine. At the same time, the numbers of specialized emergency services 101, 102, 103 and 104 will continue to operate after 2024.
It should be noted that in the conditions of war it is important to have a system that effectively coordinates the work of various services and responds promptly to situations of an emergency nature. It is the 112 center that acts as such a mechanism, providing quick and organized response to emergency calls.
