Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko during the meeting of the Barrier-Free Council chaired by Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal and with the participation of Elena Zelenska summed up the results of this year's work.

Kateryna Pavlichenko spoke about the implementation of the project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine — “Driving schools for persons with disabilities”. Today in Ukraine there are already 6 such institutions. During the work of the project, the driving schools received more than a hundred applications for training, dozens of people have already received a category B driver's license. There are also those who already had a driver's license, but after receiving an injury underwent retraining, among them our military.

Within six months we managed to increase the geography of our driving schools, created the opportunity to study theory independently and pass a theoretical exam online, prepared 40 instructors and examiners. Each of them has the skills of inclusive communication and interaction.

Also in Dnipro began testing the service of training on vehicles of category C1. We are currently studying what is the demand from society that such training could give people with disabilities an additional employment opportunity.

“Most importantly, a comprehensive service has been created, which already serves as an example of inclusion for other driving schools in the country. In this context, the topic of the meeting — “Barrierlessness for all” is particularly relevant, because we are ready to share the experience of our driving schools with communities so that barrier-free is really for everyone,” said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kateryna Pavlichenko.

By the end of this year, the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which are involved in the project, will be additionally equipped with new Huyndai I30 cars with manual control.
