Artur Dobroserdov: The search for about 1,800 people has been suspended — these are released from captivity, each exchange of prisoners is a breath of hope
“There is information about the establishment of the whereabouts of 1 thousand 800 people — also from October. The search for these persons has been suspended, their status to date has also been suspended. These are the ones who were able to return from captivity,” he said.
According to the official, the number of those released from captivity is really higher, due to the fact that not all prisoners were wanted, but accordingly in the Unified Register of Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances.
“Every exchange is a breath of hope. And for the relatives of those who have not yet changed as well. The released can confirm to families whose relatives are in captivity that he did not die, that he is alive and well, as far as possible in conditions of captivity,” noted Arthur Dobroserdov.
After the exchange of prisoners, he added, information appears - the relevant services and authorities are working with the released to confirm the fact of the captivity of other persons and establish related circumstances.
“On the bodies (search for bodies of dead servicemen — for example), we are now working on data, we are verifying the figures with the police, with the SME Bureau. The final records on the bodies will also be entered in the register,” the Commissioner said.
He explained that the bodies were being evacuated from the combat zone by a special unit. If there is no possibility to evacuate due to shelling, then after a certain time, when the front line shifts, search teams will work there.
“The Central Directorate of Civil-Military Cooperation has its own search teams that carry out search activities. First of all, they collect information from all sources who and where disappeared,” - said Artur Dobroserdov.
He also recalled that from time to time there is a repatriation procedure from Russia — exchange of bodies of the dead.
