Artur Dobroserdov: “Most of the missing will be found after our Victory”
According to him, the Register began to work on May 2, 2023 - the work on its creation was entrusted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, although at that time all the functionality regarding missing persons was still in the Ministry of Reintegration.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine was involved in the administration of the register and the issuance of extracts at the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in October. That is, since then we have been empowered and are working in this direction,” Artur Dobroserdov noted.
He stressed that when the Ministry of Internal Affairs accepted the register, it had more than 9 thousand accounts. Now there are more than 36 thousand such records.
The official noted that the experience of communicating with international organizations that dealt with similar issues in other countries shows that it is important to have a single register in which all information is accumulated: both about missing servicemen, and about civilians, and about children. Information must be constantly updated, verified and up to date.
“We can find out the fate of a certain number of people already now, in the conditions of war, but the majority will be found after our Victory,” said the Commissioner for Missing Persons under special circumstances.
For this, in the future, Artur Dobroserdov emphasized, it is planned to make the analytical function of the registry strong, so that it gives answers to analytical questions.
That is, the registry, according to him, will soon issue information on the number of women/men, military/civilians, as well as on the military - in connection with their units.
“Over time, it is desirable to have the possibility of searching for specific anthropometric data, special signs. For example, a woman is looking for her man: she knows exactly his height, shoe size, tattoos, etc. We enter this information - we find a comparison,” the official said.
