National Guard Academy continues to cooperate closely with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Latvia

The National Academy of the National Guard was visited by representatives of the Republic of Latvia.

The meeting from the Ukrainian side was attended by representatives of the Main Directorate of NGU, the Academy leadership, representatives of the Faculty of Logistics, officers of the Educational and Methodological Center, Department of Euro-Atlantic Integration and Department of International Relations.

On the Latvian side, the delegation was presented by the Attaché on Defense of the Republic of Latvia in Ukraine — Colonel Oleksandr Golmanov, Chief of Staff of the Logistics Command, Representative of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Latvia — Colonel Yevhen Kazenko and Mr. Elmars Pliavins — Senior Expert on military and religious issues of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Latvia.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the organization of training of personnel, logistics support during the martial law.

“First of all, I want to thank you for the opportunity to visit the National Academy of Defense of the National Armed Forces of the Republic of Latvia. Our visit was a significant step in the development of cooperation. An important point is the signing of the memorandum, - the First Deputy Head of the Academy for Educational and Methodological Work, Colonel Vladislav Yemanov, addressed those present. - From our side, we are ready to share our experience, which we have gained not only in the last year of full-scale war, but also since 2014 year, because changes in training and curricula began even then.”

Heads of departments of the Faculty of Logistics familiarized the delegation with the features of training future officers in the Academy of NGU. They talked about the already established effective training system and about new implementations in this process.

“It is important to continue and increase the exchange of experience. It is very valuable to receive information from people who have been training officers in the conditions of war for so many years,” said Colonel Oleksandr Holmanov, the Attaché for Defense of the Republic of Latvia in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian and Latvian sides agreed that all conferences concerning the training of guards will be held online with the participation of representatives of the Republic of Latvia. Two officers of the Academy of NGU have already gone to study for courses in the Republic of Latvia.
