Administrators of service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Rivne region learn sign language
Yesterday, May 1, following Khmelnytsky, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv colleagues, administrators of service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Rivne region began to study sign language. Basic knowledge will help you communicate better with people with hearing or speech impairments.
“We never know which person we will have to meet with a look, what their needs and characteristics will be. But we know that everyone should be provided with equal rights and opportunities in their implementation. A person who has never studied it will be able to understand sign language, because most of the gestures are quite logical and duplicate the actions and phenomena they describe, and the knowledge we gained during the training will help improve communication with people with hearing and speech impairments,” says Oksana Hrytsiuk, administrator of the service center Ministry of Internal Affairs № 5643 m. Sarny.
In addition, especially for the work of our employees, representatives of the Rivne regional organization UTOG have developed a dictionary-translator of professional terms, which are used daily in their work by the administrators of the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“Many of our defenders and defenders, as well as civilians, have been injured, have hearing and vision impairments, amputated limbs, use a wheelchair. Therefore, our task, as civil servants, is to help them feel needed by the country. It is important for us now to learn how to interact correctly with different groups of the population, and such trainings are aimed not only at the professional growth of our administrators, but also at working with myths and stereotypes about certain groups of the population. Such training helps us to better understand society and its needs,” said Valery Belts, head of the regional service center of the GSC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Rivne region.
Recall that in April 2021, the National Strategy for the creation of barrier-free space was adopted, which was developed within the framework of the initiative of First Lady Elena Zelenskaya “Without Barriers” and in implementation of the Decree of the President of Ukraine. The strategy is designed for 2030 and envisages the elimination of barriers in six main areas: physical, social and civic, economic, educational, digital and information.
